Built in the 17th Century, within the grounds of the Codnor estate, this abandoned and long forgotten old farmhouse can be found, along with its own creepy, ruined, stone, castle, situated nearby.

This derelict, atmospheric and eerie farmhouse is reported to be one of the most paranormally, active buildings, along with the grounds, that it is built upon.

Brief History

This property has a sad, macabre past and a turbulent history, with recorded deaths and stories told of many lost lives.

The farmhouse is renowned for its terrifying Poltergeist activity, along with tales of hangings, murder and witchcraft, which are all associated with the premises also.

With vast reports of many, strange occurrences here, this ghost hunt is certainly not for those who are easily scared, you have been warned.

The original castle that was once situated in the same grounds as the farmhouse, can be found in the doomsday book of 1086, this was prior to the stone castle being built, of which its ruins can still be seen today.

A gentleman named William Peveril had ownership of the original castle, however in the year 1200, the property was then passed to Henry De Grey, due to marriage.

Henry De Grey, who served King Richard I of England abroad as a Baron whilst on crusade, then arranged the building of the new stone castle that would be the seat of the Greys of Codnor for the next 300 years.

Ghosts and Spirits

There have been many reports of ghostly apparitions seen at the farmhouse and the grounds, including the dark figure of a hooded man, appearing to be dressed in a long cloak and a woman seen in a long grey dress.

Activity such furniture moving by itself and the slamming of heavy doors has also been reported along with items being thrown with force.

Creepy EVPS have been recorded capturing eerie discarnate voices, along with audible, ghostly laughter and scary, hissing sounds heard from within the darkness.
